Deficiency Tracking

The process of documenting, prioritizing, and resolving deficiencies found during fire protection inspections.

In Detail

Deficiency tracking is the systematic process of recording, categorizing, communicating, and resolving problems found during fire protection inspections. Deficiencies range from minor (missing extinguisher signage) to critical (inoperable fire pump, blocked exits). NFPA standards require that deficiencies be documented in inspection reports, communicated to the building owner/manager, and corrected in a timely manner. Critical deficiencies (impaired systems) require immediate notification to the AHJ and implementation of a fire watch in some cases. An effective deficiency tracking system includes: initial documentation with photos, severity classification, notification to responsible parties, target resolution date, corrective action performed, and verification of completion. Unresolved deficiencies represent both liability risk and revenue opportunity (repair services). FireLog tracks deficiencies from identification through resolution with automated notifications.
